In charge of the interior design of an iconic landmark in the city of San José: the grand transformation of the Aurola Holiday Inn—a 1980s hotel in the heart of the city—into a new hotel design for the Delta by Marriott brand. This was our striking intervention in the lobby, reception area, Tropicana Bistro, and La Palma Bar of this historic hotel facing El Parque Morazán.
A work of editing, but above all, the creation of a new personality with elegance and global style. A large-format sofa welcomes visitors in an atmosphere of neutral tones, with strategically placed pops of color in cushions and details. The reception provides an avant-garde approach with a wall effect evoking water—inspired by the 18th-century Pozo de Villanueva, which was located right next to the hotel and fostered the town’s construction with its clay. This historical reference became our inspiration in many areas of this grand project.
On the other hand, the restaurant takes us on a journey through green-blue tones, entering through a glass screen that evokes the impact that the Fábrica Nacional de Licores had on the historical growth of this area of the city—once considered as outside the city walls. The central booths with contemporary and creative details crown the space with their playful and elegant design.
La Palma Bar invites us to a mystical experience, alluding to the same old well with its soft lighting, greenish tones, and customized graphic design. Its oval bar in golden tones opens a door to the world of mixology, and its music brings the hotel lobby to life.
Without a doubt, a project that raises the bar for design in the capital and enhances the experience and added value of the Delta by Marriott San José Aurola hotel.
